The Grand National! The most famous steeple chase handicap of the year is coming this Saturday, and we check out five of the best bets from the latest Grand National line up.
We look at two of the best short priced favourites, some in the 16-20/1 range and the best rank outsiders including a Grand National 100/1 shot which has a course victory to his belt this season!

The Market Leaders
Corach Rambler is a deserved favourite having won last year’s renewal and finishing a brave third in The Cheltenham Gold Cup last month. 11/2 best odds with Betfred. I Am Maximus is a confirmed stayer and looks to be the best of the numerous Willie Mullins entries. 8/1 best odds with Betfred also.
Meetingofthewaters
This second-string entry from the Willie Mullins team has proved himself repeatedly over testing conditions and with the likely going to be more on the heavier side, this JP McManus progressive seven-year-old looks to have the right profile for this race.
He ran a brilliant third in the Ultima Handicap Chase at The Cheltenham Festival last month. This race has often produced some good performers for The Grand National, namely Corach Rambler, and a bold bid is expected.
10/1 best odds with Bet365 and William Hill paying 6 places for each way bets.
Kitty’s Light
Hails from a stable that thrives from producing out and out stayers primed for long distance chase handicaps. Kitty’s Light trained by Welsh handler Christian Williams has not won a race since his epic Bet365 Gold Cup win last year. 
He has struggled carrying the bigger weights this season but has slipped back down to a weight of 10 stone 6. 14/1 best with William Hill and Betfred paying 5 places for each way bets.
Delta Work
This Gordon Elliot trained former Cheltenham Festival Cross Country Chase winner and Grand National placed veteran has slipped almost unnoticed down the weights to an attractive mark of 157. 
He seems to be performing according to his twilight years with some below par performances this season. However, if he runs to the level of his 2022 third behind Noble Yeats, the weight advantage gives him excellent value at 25/1 with Bet365 paying 6 places for each way bets.
Coko Beach
Arguably the form horse in the race having run consistently in key races including the prestigious Troytown Chase and running effectively over the Aintree fences in last November’s Becher Chase.
This Gordon Elliott trained 9-year-old needs to overcome a hefty weight penalty but looks outstanding value at 40/1 with Bet365.
Chambard
This is by far probably the best 100/1 Grand National bet I have seen on paper for some time! This Venetia Williams trained veteran of 12 years won last November’s Becher Chase at Aintree by some thirteen lengths. 
The horse’s form has collapsed since then, although Venetia Williams entries always relish testing conditions. If Chambard was to reproduce the form which proved victorious last November over the Aintree fences, he has to be in with a shout.
The 100/1 still available with William Hill and Betfred paying 5 places for each way bets.
Verdict
An interesting renewal of the world-renowned steeple chase handicap. The current favourite and reigning champion Corach Rambler deserves favouritism after his brave Gold Cup third and it certainly is a commendable turnaround after an indifferent start to the season. But 11/2 is poor value in a race of this nature.
The Ultima Handicap at The Cheltenham Festival has provided some good Grand National performances down the years and Meetingofthewaters certainly fits this profile.
However, some of the key form horses are valued at astoundingly big prices. Coko Beach and Chambard have proved themselves over the Aintree fences this season albeit at a considerably shorter distance and represent excellent value bets for this highly entertaining race.
