Tuesday 10th March

13:30 SKYBET SUPREME NOVICES HURDLE

It’s extremely difficult to look past Douvan in this festival opener, best priced at 7/4 with Betfair for the win. He has excelled in two starts since his move over from France and has looked comfortable in the process. If you’re looking for an each way bet, we like the look of another Willie Mullins trained runner, Alvisio Ville. You can get him at 16/1 with Boyle Sports.

14:05 RACING POST ARKLE CHALLENGE TROPHY

This race looks like an absolute walkover for the red-hot favourite Un De Sceaux, he’s as short as 4/7 with most bookies. The value in this race has to be with the each way bet. God’s Own was a grade 1 winner at Punchestown last may and represents huge value for an E/W bet at 40/1 with William Hill

14:40 ULTRA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS CHAMPION CHASE

The first of the truly open races at this year’s festival, this grade 3 chase represents a great chance to bank a winner early in the week. Be bold and back Pendra to win at 10/1 with Betfred. He went off as favourite for last years Coral Cup, but that was a year too early for him. This could be Pendra’s year.

15:20 STAN JAMES CHAMPION HURDLE CHALLENGE TROPHY

Another red-hot favourite for this race, Faugheen will go off at somewhere near to 5/4. We like the look of a couple of the chasing pack however, and both dual winner Hurricane Fly (10/1 Ladbrokes) and the capable Arctic Fire (16/1 Stan James) represent a good E/W bet.

16:00 OLGB MARES’ HURDLE

Annie Power, second in the world hurdle last year, is out tip for this one. She’s 4/7 with Coral, which may seem short, but trainer Willie Mullins has called her a like-for-like replacement for six-time champion Quevega; not a bad comparison at all.

16:40 TOBY BALDING NATIONAL HUNT CHASE

A large and extremely open field suggests that this could be a race where the E/W bet will give a lot of value an a decent return. A tough race to call, but we’re backing Cause of Causes. An American horse, with three second place finishes in Ireland in the last 18 months. Expecting him to run well here, he’s best priced at 10/1 with BetVictor.
