Cheltenham Festival 2015: Day Two

Wednesday 11th March

13:30 NEPTUNE INVESTENT MANAGEMENT NOVICES’ HURDLE

The opening race of day 2 see a very large field compete in the novices’ hurdle. With such a large and unpredictable field, the value here is in the each way market. Vyta Du Roc at 12/1 with Boyle Sports is comfortably the best price you’ll find for him. A run of four consecutive victories in 2014 means that this horse will there or thereabouts come the finish line.

14:05 RSA CHASE

We can’t look past Coneygree for this one. The Mark Bradstock trained 8 year old, returned after a two year absence better than ever this season. Racking up a hat-trick of victories over fences, odds of 5/1 with William Hill look a little long to us, and are certainly worth looking at.

14:40 CORAL CUP

With a whopping 110 horses still remaining in the Coral Cup as of 5th March, this is going to be a tough one to call. The field can only set off with 26 runners, down from 28 last year, and we like the look of Quick Jack at 12/1 with Bet365. The 6 year old has placed in all of his last 10 races, and we’re backing him to do the same here

15:20 BETWAY QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE

Sprinter Sacre will justifiably go off as favourite for this keenly anticipated chase. The 2013 champion will be back to regain his title after missing out last year due to a heart problem. With closest competitor Sire De Grugy suffering his own problems, we’re back Sprinter Sacre at 11/4 with Ladbrokes here.

16:00 GLENFARCLAS HANDICAP CHASE

Yet another race with a currently bloated running list, this one could be a great race for the each way punter. Chicago Grey looks long at 12/1 with BoyleSports and we fancy those odds to shorten as we approach race time, so do yourself a favour and back him here today.

16:40 FRED WINTER JUVENILE HANDICAP HURDLE

Two wins from three jump starts represent a great return from Arabian Revolution. The four year old certainly deserves closer attention here, setting off at around 6/1 would not be out of the question. But we recommend backing him now at a wallet bulging 12/1 with BoyleSports.

17:15 WEATHERBY’S CHAMPION BUMPER

The much-fancied See the World will miss out this year due to illness, and that has rather opened up the field somewhat. Always Lion at 66/1 would be a lovely little bet to land on the final race of day two. Trainer Ben Pauling fully expects his horse to outrun his odds and has said that he has put in some exceptional pieces of training in the last few weeks. At 66/1 with SkyBet, an each way bet here represents superb value.
