THE GOING

The going is officially Good to Soft, soft in places.

GUIDE TO THE TELEVISED RACES

1320 The Marsh Novices Chase

Last year’s Ballymore Novices Hurdle winner Envoi Allen (1/2 bet365, William Hill, Bet Victor, Betfred) has made the transition to chasing in admirable style and this is another bombproof looking banker that will cause a major shock if overturned.

Chantry House (9/1 Bet Victor, Betfred) trained by Nicky Henderson is most likely to be the one to chase him home.

SELECTION: Envoi Allen

1355 The Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle

Traditionally wide-open handicap hurdle. Imperial Alcazar (11/2 Betfred) for Fergal O’Brien leads the market although Paul Nicholls on a recent stable interview suggested that his entry Storm Arising (25/1 William Hill, Bet Victor) could be a dark horse that the handicapper has failed to notice.

That is good enough for us and Ditcheat have been due a big handicap win.

SELECTION: Storm Arising

1430 THE RYANAIR CHASE

One of the most exciting renewals of the 2m 5f senior chase championship is expected due to the very open feel of the race, although Willie Mullins holds a big presence representing the two joint favourites, Min (5/1 bet365, William Hill) and Allaho (11/2 Bet Victor).

The progressive Imperial Aura has been running well for Kim Bailey and holds a course and distance win this season along with a Festival handicap win last season. Still has a bit to find on the market leaders but well worth chancing at 15/2 (Betfred).

SELECTION: Imperial Aura

1505 THE PADDY POWER STAYERS HURDLE

Fascinating renewal of the Cheltenham Festival stayer’s classic as the enigmatic Paisley Park (9/4 Betfred, Boylesports) attempts to regain his crown after his bitter disappointment of last year.

He has certainly been helped by the recent withdrawal of ante post favourite Thyme Hill but there are plenty of well-regarded challengers such as Fury Road (8/1 bet365, William Hill, Betfred) who ran brilliantly last season at The Festival.

We are sticking with Paisley Park to bring home the goods.

SELECTION: Paisley Park

1540 The Paddy Power Plate Handicap Chase

Another cracking betting heat for The Paddy Power Plate.

The Shunter, trained by Emmet Mullins (9/2 bet365, Betfred) is the current favourite although Farclas (6/1 William Hill, Boylesports) looks very well handicapped and apparently laid out for this by Gordon Elliott although now handled by temporary replacement Denise Foster.

SELECTION: Farclas

1615 The Parnell Properties Mares' Novices' Hurdle

Not normally a race which would automatically trigger huge betting interest, but certainly an exception this year with a whole host of chances vying for favouritism.

Enigmatic owner, JP McManus is certainly due a winner this week and he holds a couple of interesting entries here including race joint favourite Roseys Hollow (6/1 William Hill, Boylesports) who looked impressive last time out at Fairyhouse.

William Hill, Bet Victor and Betfred offering four places in what looks like a fantastic each way betting frenzy.

SELECTION: Roseys Hollow

RECAP

1320 The Marsh Novices Chase: ENVOI ALLEN
1355 The Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle: STORM ARISING
1430 THE RYANAIR CHASE: IMPERIAL AURA
1505 THE PADDY POWER STAYERS HURDLE: PAISLEY PARK
1540 The Paddy Power Plate Handicap Chase: FARCLAS
1615 The Parnell Properties Mares' Novices' Hurdle: ROSEYS HOLLOW
