Qualifiers: England Vs Poland

In the end England ran out pretty comfortable winners against Montenegro. They played some pretty decent stuff at Wembley on Friday as well, which was cause for optimism going into this final qualifier.

Andros Townsend looked a real threat, while the rest of the front three, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, and Wayne Rooney all looked dangerous. The real test (apart from the World Cup obviously) comes on Tuesday night at Wembley, where the players must soak up the pressure and turn in a real performance against a team which has the capabilities to frustrate and even shock.

England favourites to seal the deal

England are odds-on favourites on Tuesday, with many bookies including Betfred putting them at 1/4 to get the win. Poland are 11/2 with Bet365, while the draw (which would be of little use to England) is 14/1 with Coral.

For our money, we like the look of a 2-1 England win at 10/1 with Ladbrokes. Nerves and a Poland team with some decent individuals might prevent the score from being quite as impressive as the one against Montenegro, but we still expect England to get the win.

Top Dog Rooney to fire England to victory

With his goal on Friday night, Rooney became England's top scorer in competitive internationals. No mean feat for a man who still has years left playing for England. It would take a horrific stroke of luck for Rooney not to beat Bobby Charlton's record of 49 goals.

We reckon he could add at least one more to his tally against Poland, such is his good form. He is 3/1 with Stan James for First Goalscorer, which are great odds.

For Poland, undoubtedly their world-class striker in Robert Lewandowski will be looking to terrorise Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka. He is 11/4 for Anytime Goalscorer, and given the way he tore Real Madrid's team apart last season, England will need to be wary.

Both teams to score could leave England feeling nervy

Interestingly, for a team containing such attacking threats as Lewandowski and Błaszczykowski, the odds for both teams to score are a cracking 6/4 with William Hill, which is well worth taking advantage of.

Additionally, Coral's offer of 7/2 on Half Time/Full Time being Draw/England looks very good as well. The first half will be frustrating for England, but hopefully our class and persistence will show through in the second half.
