We preview the big races and check out best bets for this pulsating day of racing with our partner firms, Bet365, William Hill, Betfred, Bet Victor and Boylesports.

The Bet365 Celebration Chase

The final 2 mile Grade One of the season sees the legendary Jonbon not only hoping to complete a third victory in this race, but also to maintain his phenomenal record of always finishing in the first two of his races. However, he faces a real danger in the form of the Dan Skelton trained Thistle Ask who will appreciate the predicted lively going.

However, we think Jonbon should just have the better of the younger horse, such is his record around Sandown and Nicky Henderson’s excellent record in this race, having saddled seven winners since 2011.

SELECTION: JONBON 13/8 with William Hill.

The Bet365 Gold Cup

Each Way Extra With Bet365

The sponsors Bet365 will be providing their excellent Each Way Extra offer on the Bet365 Gold Cup, paying four places for all each way bets instead of the customary three places.

Main Players

Havaila

This Gary & Josh Moore trained seven-year-old has been well backed in recent days, from 8s into generally 9/2. Havaila has been consistent all season and has looked impressive in his last two starts, winning at Newbury and more significantly over 3 miles 4 furlongs in the Sussex National at Plumpton.

He is also very well handicapped and sure to stay this marathon distance. Best odds of 9/2 with William Hill, Betfred, Bet Victor and Boylesports.

In D’Or

Consistent sort who has been lightly raced this season, a factor that may help this Fergal O’Brien trained eight-year-old. However, he does struggle to finish his races when seeming to be in contention. Best odds of 5/1 with Bet365, Betfred, Bet Victor and Boylesports.

Montregard

This Tom Lacey trained seven-year-old has a tremendous record around Ascot having won twice over 3 miles, most notably in a decent handicap back in February. He is a consistent sort and on the upgrade. The extended distance of 3miles and 4 furlongs is certainly unknown territory however Montregard kept on well in his latest win at Ascot. He is sure to be there or thereabouts. Best odds of 11/2 with Bet365.

Ask Brewster

Fresh from his extended distance Cheltenham Festival handicap win, Ask Brewster trained by Cath Williams clearly comes here with a chance based on that win. He looks to be well handicapped although his 15-length defeat in the London National at Sandown found him wanting.

However, he comes here in great form and has each way possibilities.

Best odds of 15/2 with Bet365.

Road To Home

The inevitable Willie Mullins trained representative is Road To Home who comes into this after an encouraging second to Ask Brewster in the Fulke Walwyn handicap at The Cheltenham Festival over 3 miles and 2 furlongs.

He travelled well in that race and despite not finding any extra in the run in, he should be in fine fettle for this race. However, he is carrying enough weight and still needs to make up 2ibs on Ask Brewster so some improvement needed, although a Willie Mullins entry cannot be ignored. Best odds of 8/1 with race sponsors Bet365.

Livin On Luco

This Philip Hobbs trained eight-year-old is a proper stayer who seems to appreciate a lively going with a good test of stamina. He certainly caught the eye when he stayed on in the Chepstow Welsh National last December, getting within 9 lengths of Haiti Couleurs on an unusually fast Chepstow surface. Great each way value at 14/1 with Bet Victor.

Summary

Very hard to call and open renewal of this stayer’s chase handicap. Question marks remain with the front players, so preference is for a viable each way chance with staying credentials. Livin On Luco fits the profile nicely and could run into a place by picking off tired horses at the business end of the race.

SELECTION: LIVIN ON LUCO EACH WAY with Bet Victor.
