Tomorrow’s FA Cup final showcases the two finest teams in Engli… Wait. Sorry let me start that again. Tomorrow’s FA Cup final is a brilliant opportunity for taking the bookies for a ride because City vs Wigan is very much David vs Goliath - but this time Goliath has two Argentinian machine guns and David is trying to fight off Darth Vader with his free-hand. A cup win would be great for Wigan, but staying in the Premier league with tough fixtures against in-form Arsenal and just-about-safe Villa ought to be a priority.
City on the other hand will be leaving this season very much empty handed if they don’t win at Wembley. For Roberto Mancini who some say is on his way out, this is a must-win fixture. No doubt City will be firing on all cylinders tomorrow. This season City have beaten Wigan 1-0 and 2-0 in reasonably cagey performances, I think that backing City to win tomorrow with best odds from Ladbrokes at 4/11 is a dead cert. If you’re feeling the magic of the cup cupping you, then you can grab 9/1 with Betvictor, although the hipster-tipster is certainly not endorsing this one!
A Trip to the Chippy with City
It does seem Wigan are in for a bit of a battering tomorrow, indeed Mancini will be looking to build his City on Rock and Roll (and probably the tears of Wigan fans). Get your bets in on over 2.5 goals with Betvictor at 7/5 as out of the city squad for tomorrow just about anyone has a goal in them. Given the cagey nature of the first two fixtures between these clubs this season I think that the majority of goals will be coming late, meaning that a total demolition is unlikely but something around 3-0 is looking like a decent shout, you can get over 1.5 goals in the second half at 4/5 with Bet 365, I’m calling a 1-0 lead for City at half time with Paddypower at best odds of 5/2, and to cap these two beauties off City to win 3-0 is 17/2 with William Hill.
Aguero and co. to have a Whale of a time putting Wigan in their Plaice…
A tenuous fish pun there, but there’s nothing fishy about having money on Aguero to find the net this weekend with the Argentinian at evens to score anytime with Coral. If you’re feeling confident in the nippy striker you could even have a bang on him netting twice with Coral again giving the best odds at 5/1 on Aguero scoring twice or more. Yaya Toure loves to step it up for the big games with both feet able to deliver absolute howitzer cannon shots, Paddypower are offering 2/1 on the Ivorian smashing one home at anytime on the day.
If things don’t go to plan and City find themselves in a bit of a deadlock by the end of the game, Vincent Kompany is 45/1 to score last with Betfair. Given that he has a habit – like Yaya – of springing up when it matters, it’s tough to write him off… So why not put your money where my mouth is? Ew…
Alamo-Style Defending to Leave Wigan Cornered with Yellow Fever
Wigan are bound to be stuck on the back foot for a lot of this game and having to force last ditch challenges and blocks to keep out City’s attacking quality. I reckon that over 4.5 cards across the whole game between both teams at 28/17 is worth a punt with BWinn. If you’re fancying another stats bet then Ladbrokes are offering a zesty 19/10 on there being exactly 10-12 corners, given the amount of shots city will be taking this could be worth a flutter alongside some of the scoreline bets.
