The nation’s favourite horse race, The Randox Grand National, returns with full crowds this Saturday. We have selected eight horses which we think represent the best Grand National bets in the 40-runner field, ranging from well fancied Irish entries to some enticing outsiders!

Delta Work
Lots to like about this Gordon Elliott trained 9-year-old. His CV this season has certainly been a slow burner but really comes into the reckoning after his emotional and determined defeat of stable mate Tiger Roll in the recent Cross-Country chase at The Cheltenham Festival.
Providing that hard race did not take too much out of him, he should be primed for this attempt at the Aintree classic. He shares a similar pre-race profile to Tiger Roll’s first Aintree victory back in 2018 where the legendary dual winner won the Cross Country before taking on the Grand National.
8/1 best with William Hill, Betfred and Boylesports all offering six places.
Escaria Ten
Another of Gordon Elliot eight entries. Stayed on impressively behind Any Second Now at Fairyhouse latest and was placed in the National Hunt chase behind Galvin in last year’s Cheltenham Festival so has confirmed staying form.
Should be there or thereabouts. 12/1 best with William Hill paying six places.
Fiddlerontheroof
Classy performer from the Tizzard stable and whilst he is no Native River, the horse has the tenacity to stay over this kind of distance. Was very impressive in latest run, giving weight away all round to finish a close second behind Fortescue in a valuable Ascot handicap.
Sure to come on for that run and purposely bypassed The Cheltenham Festival for a crack at this.

Burrows Saint
Difficult to know which Burrows Saint will emerge in this year’s Grand National as his consistency can be suspect. The former Irish Grand National winner certainly caught the eye when finishing four lengths behind Al Boum Photo in January this year.
Finished fourth in last year’s Grand National and it is always a shrewd policy to pick a runner that has been round before.
De Rasher Counter
Former Ladbrokes Trophy winners have a decent record in this race and this 2019 winner of the Newbury classic has been very lightly raced in recent years since that win.
Clearly in need of the run in his comeback race in The Denman Chase, he is in with a squeak if he can produce his best.
40/1 best with Bet365 and William Hill.
Easysland
If you are looking for a classy 100/1 Grand National shot, there is not much harm in throwing a few each way pennies at the Jonjo O’Neil trained Easysland.
He will be remembered chiefly for his brilliant win in the Cross-Country chase at The Cheltenham Festival in 2020 and although he did not stay the distance in the latest renewal, he did travel well and jumped enthusiastically.
100/1 with William Hill with six places paid and Bet Boost available subject to terms and conditions.
Discorama
Comes into this on the back of a decent second behind Full Time Score at Fairyhouse after a lightly raced campaign in recent seasons. Finished seventh last year behind Minella Times so definitely enters the short list. 40/1 best with William Hill and paying six places.
Cloth Cap
Another previous Ladbrokes Trophy winner in the field. The Jonjo O’Neill trained 10-year-old has failed to sparkle really since his Newbury triumph in 2020 but he retains plenty of ability and would be in with a shout if he can reproduce his best form. 25/1 best with William Hill and Boylesports.
VERDICT
A fairly open renewal. Delta Work clearly has the form on his brilliant cross-country win and is our overall best selection although the mammoth price of Easysland, the former Cross-Country victor, is too big to ignore despite his recent lousy form.
