This Saturday sees the first leg of the big Newmarket Autumn handicap double. The Bet365 Cambridgeshire handicap looks set for a big field and fascinating betting heat.

Gavriel
This John & Thady Gosden trained progressive three-year-old has notched up a couple of wins most noticeably a decent handicap win at Ascot last time out where he kept on well to win by 2 lengths, suggesting there is more to come.
Gosden also has a fine record in this race with five wins to boast. Gavriel looks well handicapped but not the greatest of value betting wise at 9/2 best odds with Betfred.
Indalo
Second in the corresponding race last year, Indalo trained by Roger Varian, is a very consistent sort who has notched up 4 wins since 2024 and plenty of admirable finishes.
His last run in the heritage handicap Golden Mile at the Glorious Goodwood meeting was blemished by bad luck in running so a line should be drawn through that one. Sure to put in a bold bid. Best odds of 8/1 with Bet365, Betfred, Bet Victor and Boylesports.
Erzindjan
This experienced horse comes here with a course and distance win from May, having won the heritage handicap Betfred Suffolk Stakes on good to firm going. However, this is the only form worth noting as Erzindjan has been hard to find victories on.
He will also need a faster surface to be at his best although the horse will enter each way calculations.
Best odds of 10/1 with William Hill paying five places for each way bets.
Hand Of God
This Roger Charlton trained five-year-old performs well in big field handicaps and has comes into this after a decent Newbury win over the distance and more noticeably an eye-catching second in the valuable John Smith’s Cup at York.
The galloping track style of Newmarket will suit although the handicapper may well be on top of him after that York run.
Best odds of 9/1 with Bet365 and Boylesports paying 6 places for each way bets.
Harmonics
This Gosden trained second string to race favourite Gavriel may have slipped most people’s radars. However, Harmonics is well handicapped for a three-year-old and will certainly come on for his listed win at Windsor.
Best odds of 11/1 with Bet365 and Betfred paying 6 places for each way bets.
Bourbon Blues
A lot of factors in favour for this progressive three-year-old. The trainer Brian Meehan is in fine form and champion jockey Ryan Moore has selected this ride over more fancied Erzindjan.
The horse loves big handicaps and comes into this with decent form after an excellent win over the distance at Doncaster last time out.

Best Of The Outsiders
Principality (22/1 with Bet365 paying 6 places for each way bets) will be experiencing a major up in grade but this Harry Eustace horse is a progressive sort and the trainer has done well in these kinds of races.
Shafdar comes from a yard with plenty of good Newmarket form and the trainer seems unconcerned with a 4ib penalty from a recent Chester win.
Each way chances at 22/1 with William Hill paying 5 places for each way bets.
Verdict
An open competitive affair as always. The favourite Gavriel comes here with a great chance but with little value betting wise with such a large field. Ryan Moore’s choice of Bourbon Blues holds an alluring appeal at 12/1 with Bet365 and is our choice to land this big autumn handicap.
