Ladies Day! Champion Chase Day!

Welcome to Day 2 of Cheltenham Festival 2022!

Today features what most punters feel is the banker of the meeting. The superstar Shishkin will be looking to provide another Champion Chase triumph for trainer Nicky Henderson. But it might not be easy.

His greatest rival Energumene will be looking for revenge from their Ascot Clarence House contest and the likes of Chacun Pour Soi and Nube Negra should not be written off!

We will provide you with details of the televised ITV racing schedule and anything you might need to know if you are heading for the track! Otherwise switch on the TV and enjoy! We will assess the five TV races and point you in the right direction for the best Cheltenham odds and offers from our partner firms.

By Train and Bus

If you are coming in by train from Birmingham New Street, a queuing system will be in operation so as to stop dangerous congestion on the platforms due to the sheer volume of racegoers heading to The Festival. Allow plenty of time.
Shuttle buses at Cheltenham Spa will be available on the station forecourt.

Weather and Going

Official going will be Good to Soft (Soft in places) and weather is set to be unfortunately poor...take a brolley!

Tickets & Getting In

Tickets are now sold out entirely for Days 3 and 4 but there are tickets available in Club, Tattersalls, and Best Mate at time of writing for today. Gates open at 1030am with first race at 1330.

ITV Live Racing

ITV 1 will be covering the first five races.

1:30 CHELTENHAM Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered As The Baring Bingham) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m5f ITV
9 runners

2:10 CHELTENHAM Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Registered As The Broadway Novices' Chase) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m½f ITV
11 runners

2:50 CHELTENHAM Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m5f ITV
26 runners

3:30 CHELTENHAM Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m ITV
8 runners

4:10 CHELTENHAM Glenfarclas Chase (A Cross Country Chase) (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 3m6f ITV
16 runners

Races Preview

1:30 CHELTENHAM Ballymore Novices' Hurdle

Sir Gerhard all the rage for this after being switched from the Supreme Novices, Stage Star and Three Stripe Life also in with chances. We fancy a big outsider in this: the second-string Mullins entry Whatdeawant we tipped in our Best Each Way bets. Looks good each way value at 20/1 with bet365 and Bet Victor.

2:10 CHELTENHAM Brown Advisory Novices' Chase

The two big ante post favourites Galopin Des Champs and Bob Olinger have defected to the Turners’ Chase leaving this a lot easier for the highly rated Paul Nicholls' charge Bravemansgame who will be looking to improve vastly on his Ballymore third from last year.

L’Homme Presse trained by Venetia Williams looks a viable danger if producing his best. We narrowly favour Bravemansgame at 11/4 with Boylesports.

2:50 CHELTENHAM Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle

Traditionally the hardest race of the week to solve! The maximum of 26 runners stand their ground in this gruelling mid distance handicap hurdle. The classy McFabulous defected from The Stayers Hurdle and could run a big race if on top of his game.

However, we fancy the Gordon Elliott trained favourite St Felician who has been primed for this race for quite some time. 8/1 best with William Hill paying 6 places.

This is lot of people’s idea of the most anticipated race of the week! Shishkin and Energumene go head-to-head again in what could be an epic Champion Chase! Chacun Pour Soi has a few scores to settle, and Nube Negra could also run a big race.

We think Shishkin all the way however! Best odds now 10/11 with Bet365, William Hill, Bet Victor, Betfred and Boylesports

4:10 CHELTENHAM Glenfarclas Chase

After all the fuss of the Grand National weights’ drama, we can finally see Tiger Roll let the racing do the talking in the Cross Country Chase in what could be his last race. However, we fancy Easysland to bounce back and regain his title from 2020.

Best odds 12/1 with Betfred paying 5 places.

1330 Whatdeawant - 20/1 E/W with bet365
1410 Bravemansgame -11/4 with Boylesports
1450 St Felician - 8/1 with William Hill
1530 Shishkin - 10/11 with Betfred
1610 Easysland - 12/1 with Betfred
