It's Premier League derby day on Saturday with both Liverpool v Everton and Arsenal v Spurs headlining a big day of top flight action.

Liverpool were the victors in a mammoth 30 kick penalty shootout against Middlesbrough in the League Cup on Tuesday night, but it is their league form that will be troubling Brendan Rodgers, two defeats on the bounce makes this Merseyside Derby all the more important. Everton meanwhile have been in sporadic form, following crushing defeats of West Brom and Wolfsburg with a shock loss to Palace.

North London derbies are always pivotal matches, but this weekend has added importance for both sides. The Gunners are looking to continue their form with their new look frontline hoping to fire against Pochettino’s men. Spurs on the other hand, need to reverse their recent form and discover their killer instinct again after looking decidedly average in recent outings.

Liverpool v Everton

With the possibility that Sturridge will still be missing for the Reds it’s hard to see them netting a load of goals. In contrast, Everton have been pretty free scoring recently with Steven Naismith notching 3 goals already this season. It’s hard to ignore an Everton win (best price 7/2 with Coral) at that price. Their goal record this year is impressive and Liverpool’s defence is anything but watertight. With this being the case and with Everton also conceding three to a weak Palace attack last weekend Over 3.5 goals in the match at 6/4 with Ladbrokes looks a very decent shout.

Best Long Odds bet: Everton to win to nil 10/1 with Coral

Arsenal v Tottenham

Arsenal are also a side that look full of goals all of a sudden and their 3-0 demolition job on Villa last weekend will excite Gunner’s fans. With Danny Welbeck playing well and with a point to prove; he’s 5/1 with Coral to be first goalscorer. If I was feeling more adventurous I would also look at Welbeck to score 2 or more with Betfred at 7/1. Spurs have had trouble in recent league outings to Sunderland and at home to West Brom and the Gunners will provide a much stiffer test. Spurs have had trouble conceding in the last 20 mins of matches so far this season, so a HT/FT bet on Draw/Arsenal at 4/1 with BetVictor looks very good value.

Best Long Odds Bet: Arsenal to win 2-0 at 17/2 with Bet365
