Manchester Monday and Survival Sunday

Manchester City vs. Manchester United

3 weekends ago, it was all over. Roberto Mancini admitted as much, after his Manchester City side lost away to Arsenal on the 8th of April. However, on Monday night, City only need win their final 3 games and they will be champions.
This may very well be the most eagerly-awaited Manchester derby in years, perhaps of all time? It won’t take a reckless betting fanatic to throw money behind the conclusion that whoever wins the Derby, will go on to win the title.

What happens next?

Just in case you needed reminding, here are the facts of what each outcome on Monday night will mean:
City win – They go level on points with United, but will sit in 1st place thanks to a vastly superior goal difference.

A draw - United would need four points from their last two games, regardless of what City does afterwards. A victory against Swansea in next weekend’s match would clinch it if City slips up at Newcastle.

United win – Only one more point would be needed

City are 5/4 to win. A Draw is 9/4, as is a Man United win.

Roberto Mancini's side have won 21 of their last 22 home matches in the top flight, and are unbeaten in their last 27 games. The last team to come away with 3 points was Everton...Also, if you are a believer in lightening striking twice, or miracles, or supernatural phenomena, then the same 6-1 score line from October’s encounter is priced at 325/1! Put a pound on, who can tell after a season like this!

Half time/Full time

Half time/Full time may be an exciting prospect when you look at the records both teams have for conceding first half goals.

City have not conceded a first-half goal in 19 of their last 20 Premier League games, and have let in only six all season.
United have yet to win a league game this season after conceding the opening goal, which does not bode well!

Man City are 6/1 to win both halves, United 11/1. If you go with the form, a halftime-fulltime both for Man City comes in at 12/5 a £25 stake will return you £85. Or if you fancy City to extend their first-half goal clean sheet record to 20, but still take the victory, you are looking at 9/2, a £25 stake will return you £137.

Goal Scorer

This might be impossible to pick from so many talented players, but Bookies appear to be doing everyone a favour by covering Wayne Rooney with a money back guarantee. If Rooney scores at any time all losing first goal scorer, any time scorer and correct score bets will be refunded.
Rooney himself is 13/2 for first goal scorer, a £10 stake returns you £75, and 15/8 for any time scorer, a £10 stake returns £28.75.
The newly rejuvenated Carlos Tevez has a very consistent record of either scoring or assisting a Premier League goal every 55 minutes (I know he’s missed half the season, but that’s still quite good!) When Tevez has started with fellow Argentine Sergio Aguero, City have scored 15 goals, which is quite impressive. Even more so when you consider those two players netted 12 of those goals, and they all came in only 4 matches!
Both are 6/1 for first goal scorer and 17/10 for any time scorer.
If you think the importance of the game could come at the expense of cool heads in front of goal, 0-0 is priced at 10/1(surely not eh?)

Survival Sunday

Tottenham vs. Blackburn

Sundays late kick-off sees what will surely be a make or break clash for both sides. With Tottenham on the verge of dropping out of the race for the Champions League and Blackburn on the brink of losing touch will the teams above them, only 3 points will be good enough for both teams.
Despite indifferent form home and away recently, Spurs are still at 4/9 for the win here, with a draw at 16/5 and a Blackburn win at 7/1.
In October’s reverse fixture Spurs came away with a valuable 2-1 victory, and a repeat of that score line will get you 13/1, a £10 stake returns you £75.
Rafa Van Der Vaart scored both goals for Spurs that day, and he is 9/2 for first goal scorer and evens for any time scorer. He is also 9/2 to score 2 or more goals.

Chelsea vs. QPR

This is the first league meeting between the two London clubs since John Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand back in October, but off the field concerns will need to be put aside in a fixture where both clubs badly need the 3 points. Chelsea are fresh from their Champions League jubilation and Roberto Di Matteo will be in no mood to collect only his second defeat in his 16th game as Chelsea manager.
Chelsea are 2/5 for the win, a draw is 7/2 and QPR are 7/1 to win.
QPR managed a slim 1-0 victory in October and the same score line on Sunday will get you 20/1, a £10 stake will return £200(£190 profit)

Thompson’s Top Tip

If John Terry is booked OR sent off in this game, online bookmakers will refund all losing first goal scorer, last goal scorer and correct score line bets...Hilarious!
