WATFORD

(Form Check: LLWLLD)

Troy Deeney's first goal for ten games, and his 100th for the club, from the penalty spot against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, ensured that his side stopped a run of results that would have meant five defeats in six games. Watford were poor in the game's opening half, they produced eight of their nine shots at goal in the second period, in a game that was filled with controversy.

Deeney's spot-kick saved his side and if the club are to get anything from this game he will need to score at some point (9/1 with PaddyPower - Bet Here!). The Hornets could try to keep things level till half time, then push for the win in the second half (11/1 with bet365 - Bet Here!). Watford will be hopeful they will get another chance to score from the spot in this game (10/1 with PaddyPower - Bet Here!) and that they can keep Spurs from scoring (4/1 with bet365 - Bet Here!).

Keeping Spurs from scoring however, could be tricky, but if they can keep it tight, then a 2-1 win (18/1 with bet365 - Bet Here!) looks like a very achievable result for them. If they can get off to a fast start and be leading after 15 minutes (10/1 with Coral - Bet Here!) then perhaps Watford can get something positive out of the game.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS

(Form Check: LWLWWW)

A first minute goal by Virgil Van Djik for Southampton, caused Spurs to produce one of their best displays of the season in a 4-1 win. To win from behind again (10/1 with Coral - Bet Here!) may not be plan A for boss Mauricio Pochettino, but will ensure that his side doesn't panic if they fall behind early.

A brace from England midfielder Dele Alli capped an impressive performance by the North London side, keeping their slight hopes of a title challenge alive. Should Alli repeat his two goal heroics (14/1 with Paddy Power - Bet Here!) against Watford, and Spurs win the game, his side will go into their next fixture against league leaders Chelsea winning their last four games.

Harry Kane could have had brace against the Saints had he converted his penalty instead of smashing it over the bar, and he is likely to be at the focal point of his side's attacks, so may get the chance again (5/1 with William Hill - Bet Here!). Tottenham have been solid in defence this season,  and only Chelsea (11) have conceded fewer goals than Spurs (13), so if Spurs can restrict Watford to a single goal like Southampton, and repeat the 4-1 scoreline (33/1 with bet365 - Bet Here!), which is not too unlikely considering how strong the Saints are in defence (20) in comparison to Watford (30)

Eric Dier is a strong candidate for an anytime goal (10/1 with PaddyPower - Bet Here!), not only does he get forward for corners and set-pieces, he also tries his hand at free-kicks, likes the odd pot shot and the England defender is a good bet for a cheeky goal here.

SUMMING UP

An incredibly impressive performance last time out against Southampton has Spur's fans heading into the game against Watford expectant of a positive result. Although Watford are no pushovers, they are weak in attack, having scored just 22 goals, less than relegation candidates Leicester (23) and Crystal Palace (29) and only one more than Swansea. It is difficult to see anything other than a win for Spurs here, although Watford will be determined not to allow themselves to slip any further down the league.
