Premier League Preview: Manchester United v Chelsea & Tottenham v Newcastle

The 4pm kick off on Sunday sees the biggest game of the weekend, as Jose Mourinho takes his well-oiled league leaders to Louis Van Gaal’s misfiring Red Devils. This is what the Premier League is all about, two footballing giants slugging it out, and this looks like an encounter that scream goals.

Manchester United v Chelsea

Sunday 26th October: 4pm

Chelsea head to Old Trafford off the back of a thumping 6-0 win over Slovenian minnows Maribor. While the Blues had no problem slotting in the goals in Europe they may find it tougher on Sunday. If the situation conspires against Mourinho,he could be left with Drogba as his only fit striker – but I certainly wouldn’t rule out a Diego Costa return this weekend.

The Blues have looked almost unstoppable so far this season and it’s hard to look past them continuing their good form on Sunday. United’s well documented defensive issues will be prayed upon by Chelsea’s rampaging front line. For this reason we can’t see anything other than a raft of goals in this encounter. Over 3.5 goals at 12/5 with Coral seems very generous to us. United aren’t exactly known for their defensive stability at the moment and if you fancy a slightly longer shot. then Eden Hazard is 25/1 with Ladbrokes to score 2 or more goals. With the possible absence of Costa, it’s an option not to be looked over lightly.

While most people will be tipping Chelsea for this one, it’s hard to see United not scoring a few goals. A frontline including Falcao, Van Persie, Mata, Di Maria et al must surely be able to produce at least a couple of goals. For that reason, both teams to score and a United win seems very decent value at 19/4 with Coral.

Tottenham v Newcastle 1:30pm

The earlier kick off on Sunday takes place at White Hart Lane, as Spurs welcome Newcastle. Alan Pardew relieved some of the pressure on his position last weekend with a narrow 1-0 victory over Leicester, but Pochettino’s boys should provide much stiffer opposition.

Tottenham dispatched Greek side Asteras Tripoli 5-1 on Thursday evening and Harry Kane was the star of the show – bagging a hat-trick and then donning the goalie gloves and making an absolute howler. He’s 22/5 with BetVictor to open the scoring on Sunday. Newcastle have been poor this season and we fancy Spurs to shut them out at the lane. Get on Spurs to win to nil at 9/4 with Coral.
