They can't do it again can they? A wise man, so wise I don't know his name, once said 'We become what we repeatedly do'. If that's true, then expect to be buying Tottenham Hotspur Bottled Water from next season because this term could turn out to be another agonisingly close-but-yet-so-far moment for the North Londoners.

Once favourites to gain one of the remaining two Champions League berths, injuries to key players have robbed them of their consistency and they are now 10/11 to qualify with Paddy Power, behind Chelsea and Arsenal, who are both at 4/11 with Coral. Spurs have to beat Wigan on Saturday to keep the dream alive, and they'll be hoping their North London rivals Arsenal will slip up against Champions Manchester United on Sunday to boost their hopes.

Totting up the points

Wigan still have a lot to play for, as three points would greatly help their bid to cling to Premier League status. Even so, it is a long shot that they will secure a result against a vastly superior Spurs side. Spurs are 21/20 favourites with Betfred to secure the three points on Saturday, whilst the Latics are outsiders at 13/5 with Ladbrokes. William Hill are offering the draw at 13/5.

We fancy a comfortable Spurs win here. A 3-1 away win sounds good to our ears, which Stan James are offering for a zesty 18/1. If you fancy the margin, but not the result, Spurs to win by two goals is at a tasty 5/1 with SkyBet.

[Insert generic 'Gareth Bale scoring' pun here]

He's not quite in Ronaldo/Messi territory yet (odds-on for Anytime Goalscorer in most matches), but Gareth Bale is still a nailed on certainty for most deadly player on the pitch in most games. The Welsh Wing Wizard is 6/5 with Boylesports to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.

With the woeful Adebayor continuing to do his utmost to get all of North London to hate him, the chance has to be there for Jermain Defoe to start. The diminuitive forward is 13/10 for Anytime Goalscorer with BetVictor, and after his beautifully taken goal against Manchester City, you wouldn't bet against him grabbing a goal.

Last Chance Saloon

We also like the look of Bale to score last at 9/2 with Ladbrokes. So many times this season we've seen him ping an absolute piledriver past a helpless goalkeeper to save Spurs' bacon, and you'd be hard-pressed to say he won't do it again this season.

Finally, Over 3.5 Goals with Bet365 looks good. They're offering 7/4 on this, which is not bad for two teams who love to attack even if it means overlooking the defence. Combine it with our 3-1 match result tip and you could be in for a nice little windfall.
